About your freelance web designer in central Illinois
I currently freelance from my home in Hillsboro, Illinois. I like to think of myself as easy to get along with, and I enjoy hanging out with my daughter, building websites, traveling, playing pool, and socializing with my friends the most.
Web Design History
In 1999, I decided that I wanted to create my own website. I started out using a free online website builder called Yahoo Geocities. I quickly realized that website builders would all have their limitations. To build a website exactly the way I wanted it, I would have to learn a few programming languages and some kind of image editing software. So, using various online tutorials, I began learning HTML and Adobe Photoshop in my spare time.
With no money to advertise my totally custom website, I had to figure out how to get people to visit my site without money. In 2001, I began studying and implementing SEO (search engine optimization). When I finally got my website listed on the first page of the search engine results and started getting website visitors, I decided to start using what I had learned to help established businesses effectively present and advertise their products and services online. I have been freelancing ever since.
